Variety, the Children’s Charity (Northwest) proudly to presented the Variety Lifetime Achievement Award to artist and actor, David Essex OBE for his outstanding services to the music and entertainment industry.

This event was one of the highest profile Variety events of 2012 and sponsored by the Palace Hotel part of the Principal Hayley Group, Oxford Road, Manchester on Saturday, 20th October 2012.

The event was attended by many celebrities including cast of Eastenders and Coronations Street Michelle Collins and Sue Cleaver, Matt Lapinskas ,along with Christopher Biggins, Sir Tim Rice, Paul Nicholas, Jeff Wayne and all David’s family and friends. Chris Tarrant, Shane Richie and other cast members who could not attend sent fantastic Video messages!

The prestigious Award dinner commenced at 7.00 p.m. and finished at approximately 12.00 midnight with a fantastic performance by legendary group “The Real Thing “ who all their success to David Essex and Jeff Wayne.
