Variety, the Children’s Charity, today presented a Sunshine Coach to the pupils of Petts Wood Playgroup for children with special needs.

Petts Wood Playgroup has been providing care and education for children with additional needs since 1968. To mark the playgroup’s fiftieth year, Variety, the Children’s Charity, presented a Sunshine Coach to pupils and teachers in a wonderful ceremony at the special needs playgroup.

The new coach replaces a much-loved Sunshine Coach, which for the past eight years has been used by the playgroup five days a week, establishing itself as a vital part of school life. The donation of a new coach will allow for the continued support of students, enabling the children to partake in educational visits and crucially, their safe travel to and from school.

The donation, which took place at the school, was attended by representatives for the sponsor, The Stanley Sanger Foundation, as well as the CEO of Variety, Sarah Nancollas and the charity’s Chairman of the Sunshine Coach Committee, Bill Sangster.

Sarah Nancollas, Chief Executive Officer, Variety, the Children’s Charity, said:

“We are delighted that the pupils of Petts Wood Playgroup have today received their new Sunshine Coach, thanks to the generosity of The Stanley Sanger Foundation. These coaches enable children and young people with special needs to get the most out of school life by accessing learning and recreational facilities outside of the school environment.”

Larry Simpson, Leader, Petts Wood Playgroup, said:

“We are absolutely delighted to have been presented with Sunshine Coach today. A coach is a vital part of our children’s development and we would like to thank Variety, the Children’s Charity, and The Stanley Sanger Foundation for their generosity”.
