The Wait For a New Variety Sunshine Coach is Over!
A group of pupils from Sherwood waited patiently at Buckinghamshire Golf Club for the arrival of their Variety Sunshine Coach. Sherwood Park School caters for pupils aged between 3 and 19 that have severe, profound and multiple Learning Difficulties. Of the 86 pupils there are currently 43 wheelchair users that will benefit from the new coach having a tail-lift as will all pupils enjoying visits to a wide range of leisure activities and outside learning. In 2002, ACI UK donated a Sunshine Coach to Sherwood and that’s still in use.
Funds for the coach sponsored by ACI UK have been raised by sponsors and players who took part in the 2016 ACI UK Charity Golf Day; this is the 18th year that the charity golf day has been held.
The organiser of the charity golf day, Al Crane, commented:
“A well supported charity golf day is a great way for people to get together on a golf course knowing that any challenges they face on the day are going to help alleviate the challenges faced by children with special needs.”
Sue Fergusson, Deputy Head of Sherwood Park School said:
“We are delighted with our new Variety Coach and are very grateful to ACI for sponsoring this. It will make a huge difference to our school since our pupil numbers are expanding. We have an increasing number of pupils in wheelchairs, so having this coach with a tail-lift will enable our pupils to get out and about in the local community and further afield for exciting day trips”
