Pupils and staff at an inner-city school, Woodlands Primary which is located in the Gipton and Harehills area of Leeds, celebrated the arrival of a brand new Variety sunshine coach which was presented to the school by Leeds-based Sunuser Ltd.

The Yorkshire region of Variety, the Children’s Charity, is one of the most successful regions outside of London and is run by an enthusiastic and dedicated committee of volunteers whose aim is to help improve the lives of local disadvantaged and disabled children. Woodlands is a mixed primary school of 479 pupils situated in a deprived area of Leeds and catering for children of all abilities between the ages of 4 and 11 with an attached nursery for children of 3 years and over.

The school’s site manager, Nick Mildenhall, said:

“This is the first sunshine coach the school has had and will make a huge difference. Previously, when we took children on outings, we had to either borrow a coach from another school or hire one, which is expensive and ‘eats’ into our precious budgets.”

“The coach will be used for school trips and outings and will enable us to enrich the children’s curriculum and provide them with new experiences. We will also use it to transport pupils (who due to personal circumstances) might not otherwise be able to get to and from school.”
