The Rio Bingo Club in Canvey Island, Essex, raised over £500 for Variety by staging an old fashioned family fun day. Hundreds of local people and holiday makers, enjoyed activities including a Hog Roast, Tin Can Alley, and Splat the Rat, and many other traditional fairground stalls. All prizes for the tombola were donated by local shopkeepers and Pubs – a big thank you to them all.

The Bingo industry has a strong track record of raising significant sums of money for charity and over the next two years, the partnership with the Bingo Association, secured by Lyn Staunton, Variety’s Development Director in the North West, will see more than 500 Bingo clubs aiming to meet the target of £250,000 from fundraising in 2015 alone!

The bingo industry plays an important role in the community and a very strong reason for the clubs supporting Variety is that we aim to fund appeals in the communities which the clubs serve.

Plans for a national fundraising activity beginning 4th September are already well in hand but Clubs from Gala, Majestic and Carlton, have already begun their own bespoke activities.
