Britain’s best known deaf comedian, Steve Day featured amongst a range of comedians who helped raise £698.03 for Variety

‘Variety of Laughs’ was organised by Birmingham City University Masters students; Paisley Hipkiss and Jennie Bell, as part of their final projects and who both volunteer for Variety.

The evening was held at the Old Joint Stock Theatre and saw; David Pollard, Aaron Twitchen, Marshal Anderson, Lou Chawner, Thomas Rackham, Matthew Trimble, MC Nik Hill and Day perform.

All of the acts gave up their time for free to help Variety, the Children’s Charity and the night would also not have been possible without the donations of some great raffle prizes including; 30 days free coffee from Second Cup Coffee, a Four Ball Golf from Calderfields Golf and Country Club and a Sunday Lunch for four at the Village Hotel, Solihull. Similarly, flyers and posters were designed for free by Edge Total Business Management.

The money raised on the night thanks to ticket sales and raffle tickets will go towards funding a wide range of things Variety provides all of which makes an immediate difference.

Following the evening, Volunteer Event Organiser, Paisley Hipkiss said:

“Variety of Laughs turned out to be a great success, with all of the guests thoroughly enjoying themselves throughout the night. The comedians were absolutely amazing and we are extremely appreciative of their support for Variety, the Children’s Charity. Thank you to everyone that came and supported the evening.”

The Variety Midlands region has previously seen events such as Fashion Shows, Flower Arranging Demonstrations and a Ladies Day At Ascot Experience organised to raise funds to support local children most in need and now ‘Variety of Laughs’ can be added to the list of successful events.

Jennie and Paisley are now busy turning their attention into helping organise a Christmas Fashion Show which in turn will help fund four Children’s Christmas Parties for a total of 800 children who otherwise wouldn’t receive a Christmas present this year through no fault of their own.
