Variety presented two bespoke Sunshine Coaches to the pupils of Five Acre Wood School in Maidstone. The specially designed vehicles, which have been sponsored by the members of Chart Hills Golf Club, will be used to transport the children on a number of educational and social outings.

Five Acre Wood School is a special school for children and young people aged 4 -19 with profound, severe and complex needs, including Autistic Spectrum Disorder. The new Variety Sunshine Coaches will offer the children the opportunity to experience the outside world in a safe and secure way through a number of trips and activities. The coaches will be used every school day.

The Sunshine Coaches were donated by the members of Chart Hills Golf Club.

Bill Sangster, 2015 Captain, said:

“We are very proud to be sponsoring these Variety Sunshine Coaches. We are delighted to offer support to disadvantaged children and young people who deserve to participate in every aspect of school life and to spread their wings into the community. These coaches will enable them to do this.”

Peggy Murphy, Principal at Five Acre Wood School commented:

“We are delighted by the generosity of the members of the Chart Hills Golf Club in supporting Five Acre Wood to purchase two minibuses. These vehicles will enable our pupils to apply their learning within the community. Our thanks to Chart Hills and Variety.”

Jason Lewis, Variety’s Chief Barker said:

“Since 1962, we have donated over 5,380 Sunshine Coaches – that’s more than 100 a year. Variety’s specialist minibuses ensure that children can interact with the world around them and experience a fun, entertaining and educational environment, whilst ensuring they are transported as safely as possible. With the support of organisations like Chart Hills Golf Club, Variety can continue to highlight that being disabled or disadvantaged need not be a barrier to getting the most out of life.”
