Events Executive

Variety, the Children’s Charity, aims to improve the lives of disabled and disadvantaged children by providing practical help (such as Sunshine Coaches, wheelchairs and specialist equipment) and memorable childhood experiences. Our practical help makes an immediate difference offering independence, freedom and dignity to disabled children; enabling them to make the most of their childhood. We play a key role in building the self esteem of children who are disadvantaged and in making them the people who they become.

Variety is seeking an Events Executive who will be responsible for coordinating aspects of all events as directed by the Head of Events and supporting the administrative day to day tasks of the events team. The role would suit someone with experience in events and event administration, looking for the next step up in their career.

Summary of the role is as follows:

  • Attend events and take joint responsibility for the set-up and running of the event on the day including liaising with suppliers and guests and to assist with any fundraising activities.
  • Full administration of events including updating budgets, processing bookings, issuing tickets, producing place cards, seating plans etc.
  • Provide support to Event Committees, the Event Chairman and the Event Managers as required and attend committee meetings.
  • Coordinating the Auction prize data with external auction technology suppliers, donors and winners.
  • Proactive data collection and data entry into Variety’s database, exporting reports, creating invoices, credit notes, requests for payments, and processing gift-aid declarations.

Fundraising Team Administrator

  • Salary £20-22k

Variety seeks an individual for a highly focused, administrative support role within the fast moving and innovative Fundraising Team. Understanding the need for accurate management of data is crucial to the role as well as being a flexible team player, in a very friendly working environment. Summary of the role is as follows:

  • Being the DynamicsNAV (CRM/Finance) database champion for the Fundraising Department; promoting best practice, ensuring the database is maintained and kept up-to-date at all times and that fundraising information is used to best possible effect.
  • Working with the Finance Department, the Database Manager and Fundraising Team to ensure that accurate fundraising records are maintained in DynamicsNAV (CRM/Finance) and income/expenditure are coded correctly and reconciled on a regular basis.
  • Liaising with Variety’s regional offices and ensuring all fundraisers are logged on the database and that the income has been allocated to the relevant region/activity.
  • Providing excellent supporter care to donors, who get involved through direct donations to fun runs and treks, by telephone, emails and printed communications.
  • Fulfilling administration tasks including mailings, organising team schedules, meetings and taking minutes.

Volunteer Gold Hearts Coordinator, West Midlands

Variety, the Children’s Charity is looking for an enthusiastic volunteer to help the Midlands Regional Fundraising Team. 

Variety is dedicated to supporting children and young people across the UK who are sick, disabled or disadvantaged by providing Sunshine coaches and wheelchairs to taking children on amazing days out through its Variety Great Days Out programme. As a Volunteer Gold Hearts Coordinator you will support the Fundraising Manager within the Midlands region to raise awareness and funds for the charity by placing and managing boxes of Gold Heart Badges within businesses in your local community.

As a Variety volunteer, you will be given the opportunity to work on a number of rewarding projects, meet some new people and of course, gain some fantastic work experience.

Training and previous experience is not a requirement, but good communication, organisation skills and a regular commitment is. There are no set hours or days but whatever time you are able to give will make a huge difference to the charity and the children and young people whom we support. The Charity is also able to offer reasonable travel expenses.

Variety is dedicated to supporting children and young people across the UK who are sick, disabled or disadvantaged by providing Sunshine coaches and wheelchairs to taking children on amazing days out through its Variety Great Days Out programme.

Supporting the Regional Fundraising Manager, tasks will include researching various groups and organisations as well as keeping an up to date record of their contact details.
