Routes to learning, leisure and fun
Trips are typically for educational, recreational or vocational activities.
Visiting other schools to engage with the mainstream curriculum makes a real educational difference.
Just being ‘included’ on the coach trips - being one of the gang - can boost self esteem.
Having their own Sunshine Coach enables schools and organisations to plan activities without worrying about the cost and timing of public transport.
They know wheelchair access is taken care of.
Many disabled children in deprived areas would only go from home to school and back again if it wasn’t for their Sunshine Coach.
A coach lets them explore places they would otherwise never visit.
Coaches and funding
Each coach represents a team fundraising effort between the school or organisation, Variety and our corporate and individual sponsors.
There are four coach types:
- 14 seater minibus
- 17 seater minibus
- 13 seater with tail lift
- 17 seater with tail lift
From January 1st 2018, the minimum donations that we require from organisations applying for a Sunshine Coach are changing. All applications approved after this time will require organisations to raise the minimum donations as outlined in section 7 of the Application Form below. If your application for a coach has already been approved and you are affected by these changes, you'll be contacted by our Programmes team directly.
