The wonderful Cilla Black, singer, TV presenter and legendary supporter of Variety, the Children’s Charity, passed away on Sunday, 2nd August, aged just 72. The 1960s singing star and popular TV celebrity, was one of Variety’s long-term supporters.

Jason Lewis, Chief Barker – Variety, the Children’s Charity said:

“It’s a very sad day for the world of show business. Cilla was such a talent and a national treasure but not only that, she gave back hugely to an array of charities including Variety, the Children’s Charity. She recently supported the launch of our 65th anniversary book which featured numerous stars including Cilla herself. She attended the event which was held only in May, and she was on such great form; which is how we will all remember her. Our thoughts are very much with her family at this difficult time.”
