Variety, the Children’s Charity, enjoyed an evening of racing and entertainment on a hot summer’s night. The 200 guests in the Riverbank Pavilion were entertained by Bobby Davro and Adger Brown during the exciting live auction. The evening ended with a lively performance for all 5,000 racecourse attendees from Britain’s Got Talent stars, The Jive Aces who are the UK’s No. 1 Jive and Swing band.

More celebrity guests gathered outside the Pavilion for the champagne reception including: Anthony Andrews, Tom O’Connor, Miss UK.

Most importantly, the evening raised over £30,000. There were silent auction prizes and a live auction was a fabulous trip to Dubai with flights from British Airways and a hotel stay in the five star Atlantis The Palm and a desirable gold bracelet from Mappin & Webb.

Variety’s Young Ambassador, Sophie Barnett, shared her story with guests that evening to personally illustrate how a Variety motorised wheelchair has significantly impacted her life, giving her more independence to help her in life ambitions to work in the film and broadcasting.
