Doddie was a force on the rugby field, where he demonstrated not only exceptional sporting talent, but camaraderie and resilience as well.

In 2017, he went public with his diagnosis of motor neurone disease (MND), a rare condition that progressively damages parts of the nervous system, leading to muscle weakness. Doddie’s diagnosis spurred him on to create the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, which has raised millions of pounds to support people diagnosed with MND as well as their families.

Doddie was a beloved supporter of Variety, several times joining us to play in the Rugby Legends invitational golf tournament, which saw rugby legends playing rounds of golf to raise funds for Variety.

We, like many, are inspired by his determination, his positivity, and his unwavering desire to help others. Our thoughts are with Doddie’s family and friends.
