Dr Michael Josephson MBE presents Tor View School with their brand new Sunshine Coach!

It was a joyful day Tor View, as the children sang songs and recited a wonderful poem about their Sunshine Coach.

Headteacher of Tor View School, Sam Dillon, said:

“Tor View School is a GLD school for learners aged 4-19. We have a wonderful community of 258 exceptional learners who receive an outstanding education at our school, with thanks to our dedicated, hardworking staff team. We endeavour to enhance our school curriculum wherever possible through educational visits and to do this, we need transportation that is adaptive to meet the needs of all learners.

“Having a Variety Coach enables our learners in Further Education to access the local community and develop essential skills to help prepare them for adulthood. Primary and Secondary learners use the Variety Coach to access their inclusion groups at our local mainstream primary and high schools alongside their mainstream peers.

“We also have a number of learners who are able to access GCSEs through this inclusive route. We are able to take all learners across school on regular educational visits and residentials which enhance independence skills, social and emotional skills and develop communication. The Variety Coach allows our learners to engage with, and contribute towards, both our local and wider communities, providing valuable life experiences and building confidence.

“We would like to thank Variety Coach and our sponsor, Michael Josephson MBE, for their hard work and support. We would also like to thank Friends of Tor View, our school’s registered charity, who have contributed towards the Variety Coach. Thank you!”
