The children and staff of Elmfield School for Deaf Children in Westbury-on-Trym, Bristol, were delighted to receive a brand new Variety Sunshine Coach at a special presentation. The coach funded by The Geoff & Fiona Squire Foundation, will enable the children to take part in off site visits which are an integral part of the educational experience and underpin their class based learning. Pupils will now benefit from a wide range of practical learning opportunities including swimming lessons, walks on nature trails, sailing at the local club and residential stays.

Executive Head, Peter Evans said:

“We had a fantastic day and Fiona and Geoff Squire made a wonderful presentation of the new fully accessible minibus. All of the children received Gold Hearts from Variety. The school is incredibly grateful, especially the physically disabled pupils who can now go on all the trips with their classmates”.

Mike Haszko from Variety thanked Geoff and Fiona for their continuing generosity and the pupils and teachers of Elmfield School for making everyone so welcome.

The pupils of Elmfield School, showing their excitement at being presented with their new coach, are joined by Geoff and Fiona Squire as the keys are handed over to Executive Head, Peter Evans.

Geoff and Fiona Squire receive a special ‘Super Squirrel’ thank you from the pupils who wanted to express their gratitude for their brand new Sunshine Coach.

Geoff and Fiona and Head Teacher Peter Evans, give Bailey, a pupil at Elmfield, a hand using the tail-lift on the coach. For the first time, Bailey will be able to join her friends and classmates on trips away from the school.
