The awards brought together a remarkable group of individuals and companies dedicated to making a lasting impact on the lives of disabled and disadvantaged children and young people. With overwhelming support from over 900 attendees, the afternoon, hosted by Martin Bayfield, turned into an extraordinary success, raising an astounding £400,000 and igniting hope for a brighter future.

The PROPS is the UK’s longest-standing property awards lunch. Since 1992 the Awards have generated over £10 million for Variety and provided support for countless disabled children across the UK.

At the event, the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award was awarded to David and Simon Reuben in recognition of their significant impact on the British property industry over the past four decades!

The PROPS co-chairs, Candice Sammeroff and Neil Sinclair with Lisa Reuben, Simon Reuben, and Bim Sandhu.

In the 1970s Simon Reuben and David Reuben established the Trans-World Group which became a major global metals trading business. They then focused on real estate with their group of companies becoming a leader in real estate investment and development, private equity, and venture capital.

It is great honour for Simon and David to receive this award, which acknowledges the hard work they have done and the contribution they have made to the property business over the past 40 years.

Nicholas Cowell was honored with the Entrepreneur of the Year award, recognising his exceptional business acumen after four successful decades in the property world. Mark Shipman received the Most Promising Newcomer of the Year, a special award recognising the greatest among the greats!

The Development of the Year award was claimed by Battersea Power Station, a true testament to the exceptional project and visionary approach of the Battersea Power Station Development Company. Their remarkable transformation has captivated the industry and set new standards of excellence.

Polly Warrack from SEC Newgate was celebrated as the Young Property Person of the Year, acknowledging her exceptional talent, dedication, and promising future in the field. Her achievements serve as an inspiration to all aspiring professionals in the industry.

During the lunch, we were lucky enough to be joined by Variety beneficiary Illias, who was born with Spina Bifida and relies on a wheelchair for mobility. Illias has received a day chair and a racing wheelchair from Variety to help him both with everyday life and with his passion, wheelchair racing.

Illias explained how his racing chair is helping him towards his dream of competing at the 2028 LA Olympics.

I would like to thank everyone here today, because without Variety, and without your support, I wouldn’t be where I am right now. With the funds that are being pledged today, you are helping me with my sport and my day-to-day life, so thank you.

Illias, Variety Ambassador

During the event, we had the privilege of witnessing Martin Bayfield’s exceptional skills as an auctioneer, as two remarkable prizes were auctioned off live. The excitement was palpable as the bidding intensified, resulting in remarkable sales. A brand new FIAT 500 found its lucky owner and another guest will be soon enjoying an unforgettable sailing trip for 10 around the stunning Aegean Sea!
