Rain didn’t dampen spirits at Icknield School as they were presented with a brand new Sunshine Coach on 28th March.

The Geoff and Fiona Squire Foundation presented their seventh Sunshine Coach to children at Icknield School in Andover.

Icknield School caters for nearly 90 students between the ages of 2 to 19, all of whom have special educational needs, including severe or profound learning difficulties.

The new Sunshine Coach replaces the school’s old minibus and will be used on a daily basis to transport children to a number of activities, including parks and outdoor education centres, sporting activities and residential holidays. These trips are essential in providing a rich range of activities to support the children in their academic achievements, physical skills and their personal development.

Geoff Squire, Trustee of The Geoff and Fiona Squire Foundation commented:

“The Geoff & Fiona Squire Foundation is proud to support a new Variety Sunshine Coach which was presented to Icknield School on Wednesday 28th March 2018. Icknield School is an outstanding school for children and young people with severe learning difficulties. It provides a happy environment where students are encouraged to meet their maximum potential. The new Variety Sunshine Coach will provide opportunities for the children to widen their horizons beyond the school gates and take part in field outings that are educational, sporting, or just simply fun.”

Sarah Chamber, Admin Manager, Icknield School said:

‘Without the support of Variety and the charities with which they work, our pupils would not be able to benefit from the wide range of exciting opportunities and experiences that the provision of a bus allows.”
