Kim Lunn who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly aged 48 was a very active member of her community and enhanced the lives of many children and young people through her extensive volunteer work with youth clubs and football teams. Everyone who knew her wanted to give something back as a way of thanking her for the positive impact she had in their lives and credit her in partly shaping the adults they have become today as a result of her wise words and support.

It was decided that a football match should be played in Kim’s memory with former players (Gaffas girls) from her managerial career against the boys (Kim’s kids) in her family. They hoped to raise enough money to buy a memorial bench at the cemetery from the day. The turnout by far surpassed anything they had expected and they raised double the amount.

They decided to donate the remainder of the money to Variety as they felt this would be the best way Kim’s devotion to supporting and helping children would be carried on.

Jo Byrne – Kim’s partner said:

“The Gaffas girls, Kim’s kids, her family and I all hope the money raised can give other children like we all once were, the same benefits we have been lucky enough to have had.”

Every gift in memory of your loved one vastly improves the lives of children and young people who are disabled or disadvantaged.
