The Builders Merchants Federation (BMF) has chosen Variety, the Children’s Charity as its charity partner for 2018. During the year the BMF will raise funds through a number of events, with the proceeds being shared between Variety and the merchant industry's own charity, the Rainy Day Trust.
Fundraising initiatives will be held at the BMF's main industry events in 2018 – Burns' Night Supper on 26 January, BMF Parliamentary Anniversary Reception on 24 April, BMF Members' Day 26-27 September, Anniversary Young Merchants’ Conference in October, BMF Anniversary Dinner at The Belfry on 29 November.

In addition, the BMF has agreed with the organisers of the Vado Rally that the proceeds of this event will be divided equally between Variety and the Rainy Day Trust. The Vado Rally is a four day rally from England to Copenhagen with participants raising funds through sponsorship.
John Newcomb, BMF Chief Executive, said:
"BMF members always contribute generously to our charity fundraising and in past years we have been proud to hand over significant sums to our nominated charity. We have now set ourselves a challenge to match or even exceed previous fundraising figures to share between our 2018 charity partner, Variety and our industry charity, Rainy Day Trust.”
Duncan Syers, Variety’s Chief Barker said:
“We are absolutely delighted to be the Builders Merchants Federation charity for 2018 and look forward to working together in an exciting and successful partnership. We are grateful to the BMF and its members; their renowned generosity will make it possible for Variety to reach even more children who need extra help.”
