A series of monthly music events in Dorset aim to raise £10,000 for Variety The Children’s Charity this year.  The Retro Nights, held at Highcliffe Sports and Social Club, bring popular performers from the sixties and seventies for evenings aimed at nostalgia and fun. Organised by Ian Woolley, of Quiz Britain Productions, the events have proved popular with both residents and visitors to the area.

The April show featured 1976 Eurovision Song Contest winners Brotherhood Of Man who entertained with an evening of hits that included, of course, their winning song “Save Your Kisses For Me”. The show was presented by former Radio 1 DJ Mike Read who also spun a few discs.

Frances Cornelius, chair of Variety Wessex, said “Brotherhood Of Man were amazing.  We forget just how great the bands and music from the 60’s and 70’s were and still are today! There was lots of singing and dancing and it’s fabulous that these entertaining evenings are raising money for Variety The Children’s Charity.”
