Ravenscliffe High School and Sports College - Sunshine Coach Presentation

We’re indebted to wonderfully kind and generous people like Alan Gough from West Yorkshire who last year left us a gift in his Will. As a result of this generous gift, Ravenscliffe High School and Sports College in Halifax now has a brand new Sunshine Coach which will help local disabled and disadvantaged children and young people for generations to come.

A Variety Sunshine Coach gives pupils the opportunity to experience practical learning outside of the school environment. It is important to open young minds to a wealth of possibilities and allow them to explore more of what is around them.

Martin Moorman, Head teacher, commented:

“Sadly, I never got the chance to meet Alan Gough. Alan’s legacy sponsored our new Variety minibus. What a wonderful way to remember him though and what a fantastic legacy to leave. His legacy has given some of Calderdale’s most vulnerable young people a much brighter future. If I could encourage anyone with the means to do so, then it would be to consider following Alan’s example and helping those who really do need an extra bit of support.”

Adam, a Year 14 student commented:

“The new Sunshine bus is the best one we have had at Ravenscliffe. It smells new. It is very comfortable”

Beverley Goulding, Mr. Gough’s great-niece, commented:

“We are thankful to learn how Variety have used Uncle Alan's legacy, it is much appreciated and we feel as parents of a child on the autistic spectrum that it has been spent wisely. This is such a great cause and will improve children's lives that really do need it and I know that Uncle Alan would have been very pleased with this.”
