Variety names Jill Scott, MBE, an ambassador

Jill is an influential English footballer who plays as a midfielder for Manchester City and the England national team. She is one of just 11 Lionesses centurions. Jill will join the England Women squad this weekend as they face Brazil Women for a friendly match on Saturday, 5th October at the Riverside Stadium.
In her role as Variety Ambasasdor, Jill will be supporting the charity’s campaigns, attending events and presentations and helping to raise awareness of Variety as we look towards the next 70 year
Jill invited young people from Meade Hill School and Greenbank Sports Academy down to the Academy Stadium. They were greeted by Jill and enjoyed a private stadium tour and a Q & A session with the sports star.

Both Meade Hill and Greenbank have benefited greatly from Variety’s work. Meade Hill School provides education for children with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. Variety funded a 14-seat Sunshine Coach which makes it possible for children to get out and about so that they can learn practical life skills and enjoy outings in places they otherwise couldn’t get to.

Greenbank Sports Academy, Liverpool, provides educational and sports services for disabled children and young people as well as disability sports events and club and coach education. Variety funded 5 sports wheelchairs in order to enable more young people to play wheelchair Power Hockey and Power Football.
Jill Scott said: “I am delighted to become an Ambassador for Variety, the Children’s Charity. The work that they do for disabled and disadvantaged children across the UK is invaluable. I’m keen to bring my sporting background to the role and help provide all children with access to sports, no matter their background.”
Harold Tillman CBE, Chief Barker and Chair of the Board of Variety, added: “We are excited to announce that Jill Scott is becoming an Ambassador for Variety. Throughout the charity’s 70 years, we have helped almost one million children and their families. With Jill’s support, we hope to be able to reach even more children and make the next 70 years even more successful.”
