Stars Tribute to Laurie Holloway

Variety, the Children’s Charity invite you to come and celebrate Laurie’s phenomenal music achievements and to enjoy a spectacular show from the Man behind the Music.

Laurie is best known as the Musical Director for Michael Parkinson's Chat Show and for the first three series of Strictly Come Dancing on the BBC. His TV work has included composing several well-known TV theme tunes such as Blind Date, Beadle's About and Game for a Laugh.

He has been awarded the Gold Badge of Merit by The British Academy of Composers and Songwriters and he has appeared as the subject of This Is Your Life.

Laurie has worked with many stellar performers such as Judy Garland, Liza Minnelli, Engelbert Humperdinck, Dame Cleo Laine, Elaine Paige OBE, Dame Edna and his late wife, the wonderful Marion Montgomery.

Laurie has promised a fantastic show and quite a few behind the scene stories.

This event will be hosted by Laurie’s close friend Sir Michael Parkinson with appearances from Elaine Paige OBE, Barry Humphries CBE, Lesley Garrett CBE, Tina May, Jacqui Dankworth, Barry Mason, Martin Taylor MBE, Claire Martin OBE and Kenny Lynch OBE and all funds raised at this event will help improve lives of sick, disabled and disadvantaged children around the UK.

"I’m delighted to be taking part in Variety's tribute to the talent that is the wonderful Laurie Holloway, who I’ve known for over 30 years; in fact he was my first musical director when I embarked on solo concert work and not only did he guide me in devising a show, but he was the most brilliant accompanist. I’m pleased, by way of this celebration, to continue my support of Variety.  I’ve been involved with this charity for almost 40 years now.  Their work is so important, helping sick, disabled and disadvantaged children across the UK, and needs our continuous support.” - Elaine Paige OBE

"In January 1993, just after giving birth to my first child Jeremy, I was honoured to receive the 'Variety Club Sir James Carreras Award' for Outstanding New Talent for 1992. I am proud and delighted to still be working and supporting the extraordinary work Variety does for and with disadvantaged children.

Laurie Holloway and I go way back. We first performed together on the Michael Parkinson Show and I have been a humble devotee of his ever since.  I am thrilled to be sharing the stage with this inspirational musician once again." - Lesley Garrett  CBE
